Just a little reminder that the Post meets the first Monday of the month at 7:00
PM at the Post Home on Industrial Dr. If you have any questions or need any assistance
that I can help with you can contact me at 715-258-7257 or 715-281-7258, moreys3@core.com.
Put something about VFW or Veterans in the subject box.
Please check the agenda page on our Web Site and come and help us with any projects that you can.
With the state budget and the national budget both being in trouble now is not the time to let
our membership in the VFW lapse, it is going to be a tough fight just to keep what we have.
Remember if anyone is having trouble affording their dues let us know we can and will help. I
also want to thank everyone for all that you do for our Veterans everyday just being a member of
this great organization means a lot. We must continue to speak for those that either can't or
won't speak for themselves to make sure they get everything they have earned. We need to make
sure that those in harm's way are supported and have everything they need to complete their mission.
Today's date is March 15, 2011, I am trying to write a little about what is going on at the Post
before it warms up and we can once again get outside and get some things done. I think I may be
getting a little cabin fever. Our Funeral Honors has been very busy this winter with our own
local vets but also doing quite a few out at The Veterans Home at King, they did not want their
team going outside in the cold and snow. A big thank you to Bud Carlson and all of the members of
the team. Due to the low membership numbers at the Iola-Scandinavia Post their members and the
members of our Waupaca Post have voted to combine. There are still some things we need to work out
but I am sure we will get this done in a short time. Our Post Bingo starts this Thursday the
17th of March and continues every 3rd Thursday of the month thru November, Loyalty Day will be in
Plover on April 30th, parking cars at the King open house will be on May 15th, and Memorial Day
program will be on May 30th at Riverview Park in waupaca, our speaker will be Richard Kucksdorf
from Clintonville. Latter on will be the Iola Car Show and the Iola Vintage Military show and of
course the 4th of July parade in Waupaca.
That's all for now!
